on a saturday after church.
no money.
no place to go.
so we…
danced!
so things around here are seasonal.
remember the board games era?
the dancing weekends?
the table tennis era?
and even the time when people came around church to study!??!!? (my faith was reinforced that there truly must be a God in those seasons!!)
well, last weekend, the guys got together and did their IPPT and fitness regimes in church.
this pic was of the gang trying to see who could last longest.
jpaul was in a league of his own.
his cocky-ness however, is ..well, legendary!! to say the least.
there was the inclined arm flex from a chair. (i think mark john holds the record) and the shuttle run.
let’s see how long this will go for around here.

it was the normal panic this weekend, as i had to speak, but it was way cool to see everyone back, and here’s a quick snapshot of things.
the team on sunday.
i think someone was praying, hence the slightly bowed heads, except for mervin, who i think, believes it good to pray and see!
i thought they did great. and Mel’s song choice had a good flow. very uplifting. thanks.
jay and vicky (and mel and sherman) had a planning meeting on sunday where we took time to discern the focus for the team for next year. am excited about where we are going. we’ve also managed to plan out the major things for 2010! hooo!
bryant was spotted by chance in the bathroom. it’s not everyday that we see him all dressed up and such. hooo!
and check out yeronn’s look! very cool la! (but i think the tie comes from Grace)
we had some problems with church news. although it was filmed and such on thursday, the tape broke, so last min, Elgin, said we could still get something done. and i had to be the newscaster. so we ran through it, he edited it, and it was ready to go. the only thing is that i had to introduce myself – which was kinda fun and funny!
and choir after service was fun too. we’re working on our caroling repertoire. managed to work through 4 songs. and one re-arrangement! haha! it was fun coming up with a r&b version of Joy to the World!
last saturday was a rare weekend where i didn’t have a specific ‘duty’ to perform, so i got to enjoy the entire service (not that i don’t enjoy it when i have something to do … but it’s different, u know what i mean?!?!).
here’s some pics from saturday.
we were doing a series entitled “Dare to Love” and it was week three – the closing of the series.

the people

the worship team (our vocalists)
it was an awesome time team. thanks.

our drama team and the skit on communication. hilarious la!

someone give me a newspaper!! thanks guys!
“growing old is natural. growing up in intentional” – ps Klein. nice.
i can’t wait for this weekend with Ps Neli from Every Nation Church Singapore.
so the three weeks are over. and it’s been a cool journey. the book of joshua has so many amazing truths and principles for us. God’s Word is so amazing! and i feel so humbled to be able to teach it – fully aware that apart from God there is NO WAY!!
but i learnt too, that a simple step of faith. a simple step to say “God i will be available” and i will do my part for what it is You want, then we see Him do what He alone can do.
the class was awesome la. everyone came hungry (some literally) to learn. And in spite of long and tiring working days, people came to hear the Word and be taught the Word. God keep all our hearts soft and hungry for your Word. Keep us always teachable.
i want to always hear God’s voice, that i will always know His instructions, and then to have the courage to be obedient.

(i just recently discovered that my phone can take panoramic shots! hooo!) this is a shot of the whole class! we limit class intake to 20 only!

ryken goes to bible class!! (his first!!!! this time round, bo pian parents drag him, but in time i’m praying that he’ll love coming to church and to bible classes!!)
//this is the poem that Dalton Sim wrote for last weekend’s service (that Jared narrated) as part of our Dare To Love series!
(this kid is amazing la!!!)

The Limits of Love
Love is a strange emotion, peculiar and odd
Imbued in us humans, yet all that is God
Drives us in a way we can’t understand
Makes us feel what nothing but only love can
From lover to beloved, an inexplicable bond
To love, and with love, the only way to respond
An amazing thing, this love, though it may be profound
It really might be what makes the world go ‘round
Yet the irony of love is that in its fullness and grace
It sometimes puts us in an awkward place
For as the love from inside continues to grow
It starts to result in a certain quid pro quo;
The more we love and the stronger love’s bind
Our actions and decisions become more confined
This limit of love, however, does not render us marred
But accentuates the love; gives it higher regard
Remember the time when you were only eight?
Dad got back from work the night before quite late
His work wasn’t done, and he only slept at five
He got up the next morning not very alive
But promptly at six, Dad was out of bed
It didn’t matter much that he had a throbbing head
‘Cause all that he had on his mind was you
And how he made sure his child got to school
Remember the time you were only ten?
Watching you grow up was Mom’s joy back then
Then one day at work Mom got a massive promotion
Its numerous perks could not outweigh one condition
She had to be sent overseas where she’d stay
For three years at a stretch, where she’d be away
From family and friends, and especially her kid
So she gave up the job; never regret what she did
Remember the time when you were thirteen?
Mother’s day was coming and you were pretty keen -
On getting her a present, to show her you care
Yet you had no savings, your pocket was bare
Whatever little cash a school kid like you had
You would sacrifice it to make Mommy glad
Out of your allowance, you took away some
And ate less for a month just to get a gift for Mom
And then you were nineteen, growing so fast
Friday night with the guys, it was going to be a blast
Your favourite band was in town, they got tickets for you
But your brother Jake suddenly comes down with the flu
He was home alone and wasn’t looking too good
So you forgo the big concert to do what you could
He was your brother and he needed your care
If it meant giving things up, you would be there
Yet these stories, they pale in comparison to the love
That was showered upon us by our God above
However we try, His love cannot be outdone
For He gave to us His one and only son
Came down to earth to walk among us men
Simply because He loves us and He can
Though end of the journey was to be demise
He did it anyway, and made the biggest sacrifice
Jesus walked the earth, he was humble and pure
He knew He was doing His father’s work, He was sure
His love had no limits, no borders or bounds
It’s a complete and wholesome love that surrounds
His purpose was a calling from up above
To be, to show, to give and embody love
The greatest gift that He gave and beyond
The question is how will we choose to respond?
if ur between the ages of 13-18, come and have a great time with us, this friday @ church. the fun starts at 5pm!
see you!
