60 000 shots, and 9 600 prints later … amazing stop motion stuff..
i’m not a trekki. actually i haven’t seen one star trek movie, the series or anything star trek related. so this was my first step into the trek world.
i’m not going to suggest that i’m even remotely considering entering into that world, but having just watched the movie …. i loved it!
the movie, that is!
JJ Abrams has created a movie for a new generation and i’m sure he’ll pick up a few new fans along the way.
the action was great, the story intriguing enough, the cast had the ‘look’, the soundtrack completely enhancing the emotions, and watching it on the big screen with a huge sound system (we watched it at The Grand Cathay) just made it all that much good-er!
at the end of the movie, it left me feeling we needed to celebrate.
so we went and got ourselves ice-cream!

there’s an odd thing about watching a movie about two older people who’s live have not been so successful in love find success with each other towards the end of a movie. i think to single people, these movies don’t inspire or bring hope, as may be its intent, but rather it just reminds us that we are single – and maybe even make it seem therefore that we are incomplete, unhappy, clumsy individuals.
or maybe that’s just me.
but having said that “last chance harvey” is a great show to watch. and here are two reasons why: dustin hoffman and emma thompson.
YES! i have been waiting for a movie like this for a long time. i thoroughly enjoyed it on so many levels – it’s truly the work of an artist who takes pains in his craft. for the plot and forum on it, check out the IMDB site. for easy reviews, check out rottentomatoes.com and for the Wiki page on it (which incidentally has the most thorough write up on the movie, Click Here
Go watch this people! it’s really good! ![]()
and it’s terrifying that it’s based on a true account.

this is a movie that suggests from a scientific perspective that perhaps darwin wasn’t accurate, and that life has a Divine Designer to it!
last nights moment of charades was heaps fun. from me straining every miniscule of memory of movies seen or heard, to mj spoiling the fun for all, to d’s perpetual overtones, to laughter, and challenge, and frustration, to curly fries, ice-tea, and a surrendered 20 piece, to scraps of paper from rayban receipts – it was an occasion that was light, fun and funny!
last night schema theory kicked in, and once the floodgates were open, suddenly movies from long ago, rushed in. it was quite exhilarating. the drive home had my head swirling in movie titles. perhaps i should make a reference list for future late night escapades.
but the winner last night, surely must be elgin’s ‘battleship potemkin’ and today i have found its director – Sergei Eisenstein.
i can’t wait for HAIRSPRAY to be screened.
23rd Aug.
(i just bought the CD!!!!) the 60s rock!
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me….
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
T’was Grace that taught…
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear…
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares…
we have already come.
T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far…
and Grace will lead us home.
The Lord has promised good to me…
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be…
as long as life endures.
When we’ve been here ten thousand years…
bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise…
then when we’ve first begun.
