“‘Cause you can’t stop
The motion of the ocean
Or the rain from above
They can try to stop the paradise
We’re dreaming of
But you cannot stop the rhythm
Of two hearts in love to stay
‘Cause you can’t stop the beat!”
and here’s the broadway version from the today show!!!
“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
–Walt Disney
i loved this film. hilary swank is great.
it’s a story of a new teacher who chooses to teach in a school that recently, because of new integration initiatives, has had various racial groups at their school. the only problem is that they all don’t get along. the story is her journey as a teacher to help them – by creating a safe environment in class and by giving them a voice to write their stories in journals.
there is a moment in the film that hit me hardest – when her father sits down next to her – a father who never understood why she would choose to be a teacher in that environment. but after seeing the lives of her kids changed. he says to her, that she has been “blessed with a burden”.
in that moment i saw myself.
blessed with a burden.
